How is the discount calculated?
Your electric heat pump must be wired through a subtractive auxiliary meter. Equipment is furnished free by Great Lakes Energy, installation of the subtractive meter base is the responsibility of the member. Once the meter base is installed, inspected by the county and the heat pump is operational, the subtractive meter can be installed. The subtractive meter will record the kWh used by your electric heat pump. Your existing electric meter will continue to record the kWh use of your other home appliances at the standard residential rate. You will receive one bill for both meters. Both meters will automatically send readings to our office on a daily basis allowing us to monitor your usage accurately and effectively.
