Long Distance Phone Service

To help save you money, Great Lakes Energy is now offering long distance phone service for as low as 3.9 cents per minute, anytime and anywhere you call in the continental U.S. with no monthly fees or minimums. You will receive one, great low rate, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for all your in and out-of-state long distance calls, including local long distance.

Here are some basic questions and answers about our program:

What are your rates?

• 3.9¢ per minute when combined with our Internet and a one-year term.
• 4.9¢ per minute with a one-year term.
• 5.4¢ per minute with e-billing and no term.
• 5.9¢ per minute with standard billing and no term.

You get a personal toll-free number and all incoming calls are 6.5 cents per minute. Calling card calls are 9.5 cents per minute. There are no monthly fees or minimums and no cost to join.

We also offer low-rate Internet service when you combine our Internet service, long distance service and e-billing you'll receive a rate of $12.95 per month for unlimited dial-up Internet access or $29.95 for DSL.

Will my local phone service provider change?
No. You will remain with your local exchange carrier (LEC) for your local service.

How are we able to offer such great rates?
We have partnered with TransWorld Network, (TWN) a reseller of long distance phone service. By bringing together electric cooperative customers across the US, TransWorld Network can purchase long distance minutes at very attractive rates and pass along the savings to customers. We chose them as a partner based on the savings, service and reliability they can offer our customers.

How will I receive my bill?
You will receive a long distance bill from TransWorld Network, separate from your local phone bill.

I have a second home downstate, can I enroll?
Yes, this program is available to anyone in the state. You don't have to be a Great Lakes Energy customer!
