Your high school sophomore or junior has until Feb. 28 to apply for Youth Tour, the learning, leadership, and fun experience of a lifetime!
On June 9, six high school students whose parents or guardians receive Great Lakes Energy electric service will travel with other teens from Michigan electric co-ops to Washington, D.C. During a motor coach ride along the way, they’ll visit the historic sites of Gettysburg and Fort McHenry.Â
Once in Washington, they’ll join around 2,000 students from electric co-ops all over the nation.
- LEARNING experiences include information on electric cooperatives and the relevance of co-ops in today’s utility world plus visits to several museums.
- LEADERSHIP experiences include the chance to ask questions of legislators on Capitol Hill and vying to become Michigan’s representative on the national Youth Leadership Council.
- FUN experiences include watching a Broadway play, attending a Washington Nationals baseball game and flying back to Michigan on June 14 with their new friends.
The trip is sponsored by your electric co-op. Visit the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour website and submit your application NO LATER THAN FEB. 28.
Applicants selected for Youth Tour will be notified by the end of March.
