High Winds Cause Power Outages for Great Lakes Energy Members

Approximately 12,000 Great Lakes Energy (GLE) members are without power following heavy winds this afternoon. All GLE line crews, along with the help of contract crews, are working to restore service.

Outages are reported across 15 counties throughout the Great Lakes Energy service territory. Areas most impacted with outages are Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Crawford, Emmet, Kalkaska, Osceola, and Otsego counties. Due to difficulty of working amid sustained winds, repairs are expected to be slow going. If power is not restored by 11 p.m. tonight, GLE members requiring power should make alternative plans for overnight accommodations.

Great Lakes Energy members are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and to also stay clear of trees and limbs hanging on the lines. Current outage information by counties and zip codes is updated on the Great Lakes Energy website, www.gtlakes.com, by visiting Storm Central.

Great Lakes Energy members can report their power outage online, or on the Great Lakes Energy app.
