GLE is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by you, our members. Unlike other utilities, GLE is governed by a board of directors made up of members like you, elected by you. Our rates are cost-based, and any margins (profits) are returned to members as capital credits when financial conditions allow.
Headquartered in Boyne City, MI, GLE is Michigan’s largest member-owned electric cooperative. It is made up of 9 districts and serves more than 132,000 meters across 26 counties with 14,991 miles of line, making it the fourth largest electric co-op in the nation by line miles.
