Restoration on Most Remaining Outages Anticipated Today

Aug. 7, 2015 – 10:00 a.m.

With the assistance of many extra crews, Great Lakes Energy crews are expected to restore power today to most of the 200 Great Lakes Energy members who remain without power Friday morning as a result of heavy damage to power lines caused by powerful storms that raced across the state throughout the day on Sunday.
Crews will continue to work through the weekend to restore power to small, individual outages that may not get restored today.
Most of the remaining outages are in parts of Antrim, Crawford and Oscoda counties.
Over 40,500 Great Lakes Energy members in all 26 counties served by the electric cooperative were affected by the storms.
The severity of the power line damage required more time to make repairs. The destruction included at least 208 broken poles and one area where downed power lines were buried under huge trees piled at least 15 feet high.
Current outage information by counties and townships that is updated every 15 minutes can be viewed on the Great Lakes Energy website, www.gtlakes.com, by clicking on Storm Central.
GLE members should report their outage by calling the electric cooperative’s automated, toll-free outage number:  1-800-678-0411.
