More than 36,000 members were restored with power after major storms and tornados caused widespread outages and severe damage last week. Great Lakes Energy employees worked diligently to restore power safely and efficiently. Damage to more than 250 poles and the devastation caused by tornadoes hindered crew progress throughout the week. Great Lakes Energy crews were joined by 79 contract crews and other utilities along with assistance from County Road Commission crews as they all worked to move trees, clear roads and repair damage. GLE staff reported this as the worst storm they had ever been a part of and some contractors called the damage worse than hurricane damage they have seen.
A sincere thank you to our members for their patience and understanding during the storm.
