Great Lakes Energy Continues Restoration Efforts After Saturday Storms

Great Lakes Energy continues restoration efforts Sunday after multiple rounds of damaging wind and rain storms hit the cooperative’s service area yesterday. Just over 2,200 members in 11 counties are still without power. Since the storm hit, power has been restored to almost 30,000 members.

Most of the damage caused by the storm is in parts of Barry, Lake, Oceana, and Osceola counties.

All available Great Lakes Energy crews assisted by contract crews are working to restore power. Extensive damage to a substation in the Hastings area in Barry County is prolonging restoration efforts. Great Lakes Energy’s power supplier is on site working on the substation repairs. If the weather holds and a fix to the substation is able to be completed, remaining members without power are expected to be restored today.

Great Lakes Energy members are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and also stay clear of trees and limbs hanging on the lines. Current outage information by counties and zip codes is updated on the Great Lakes Energy website, www.gtlakes.com, by visiting Storm Central.

Great Lakes Energy members can report their power outage online, on the Great Lakes Energy app or by calling 888-485-2537.
