Heavy Winds Cause Power Outages for Great Lakes Energy Members

October 18, 2022

8:00 a.m.

More than 6,000 Great Lakes Energy (GLE) members are without power following high wind activity throughout yesterday evening and into this morning. GLE line crews have been dispatched and are working to restore service.

Outages are reported across nine counties throughout the Great Lakes Energy service territory. Areas most impacted with outages are Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet, and Otsego counties. Most of the damage is attributed to gusting winds and snow affecting heavy, wet trees that have not yet shed their leaves for the season.

Great Lakes Energy members are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and to also stay clear of trees and limbs hanging on the lines. Current outage information by counties and zip codes is updated on the Great Lakes Energy website, www.gtlakes.com, by visiting Storm Central.

Great Lakes Energy members can report their power outage online, on the Great Lakes Energy app, or by calling 888-485-2537.
