Damaging Winds Cause Power Outages for Great Lakes Energy Members

More than 8,500 Great Lakes Energy (GLE) members are without power due to tree damage from intense gusting wind. GLE line crews have been dispatched and are working to restore service to the affected members.

Outages are reported across 22 counties throughout the Great Lakes Energy service territory. Areas most impacted by outages are Kalkaska, Lake, Mason, and Newaygo counties. Current outage information by county is updated on the Great Lakes Energy website, www.gtlakes.com, by visiting Storm Central.

Members using generators should ensure they are connected properly and legally with a transfer switch so they do not backfeed into the powerlines and harm workers. Great Lakes Energy members are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and trees and limbs hanging on the lines. For the safety of our members and our staff, please do not approach or engage with line crews working to restore power.

Great Lakes Energy members can report their power outage through their online account, on the Great Lakes Energy app, or by calling 888-485-2537.
