Energy Wise

Get rewarded for saving energy! The GLE Energy Wise program gives members rebates for making smart energy choices.

As demand for energy increases with modern technology, consumers have a growing appreciation for the benefits of energy-efficient products and services. Fortunately, saving energy does not have to mean sacrificing comfort, quality, or convenience. Below is an outline of rebates available to help GLE members offset the cost of purchasing energy-efficient products and systems.

Important Changes to Energy Wise Rebates

Starting January 1, 2026, our rebate program will operate under a new structure.

To qualify for 2025 rebates:

Home Heating and Cooling

Central Air and Air-Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)

Air-source heat pumps and central air conditioners both provide home cooling, but they differ significantly in efficiency and functionality. Central air conditioners cool your home by moving heat from indoors to the outdoors, while air source heat pumps perform the same cooling function and provide heating.  Like your refrigerator, heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space into a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors; during the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide up to 4 times the amount of energy they consume.

When heat pumps are installed as the primary source of heat in your home, you may qualify for a lower electric rate for the energy your heat pump uses. See our Efficient Electric Heating Rates.

Residential AC Tune Up$25 per tonsRequires a licensed mechanical contractor.

Ground-Source Heat Pumps (GSHP)

Ground-source heat pumps, also referred to as geothermal heat pumps, rely on the relatively constant temperature of the earth to transfer heat to or from the ground. The premise has been in use since the late 1940s and continues to be one of the most energy-efficient options for home heating and cooling.

When heat pumps are installed as the primary source of heat in your home, you may qualify for a lower electric rate for the energy your heat pump uses. See our Efficient Electric Heating Rates

ProductRebateQualifications
Ground-Source Heat Pump$2,250

Includes Well-Connect, replacement ground or water source heat pump, or new ground or water source heat pump.

Desuperheater for Ground Source Heat Pump$100Must be connected to a ground or water source heat pump with desuperheater for domestic hot water generation. Must be connected to ELECTRIC back-up water heater. Requires a licensed mechanical contractor.

Heat Pump Water Heater

Heat pump water heaters are an energy-efficient way to heat your household water, using electricity to move heat rather than generate it directly. They can be up to three times more efficient than traditional electric water heaters, helping you lower your energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint. Rebates are available to offset upfront costs of energy-efficient options so you can enjoy significant savings over the life of the product.
