Important Safety Reminder for Members Affected by the Ice Storm

We know this recent ice storm has caused serious damage in many areas, and we’re here to help you get safely reconnected as soon as possible.

If your home’s meter base, mastpipe, or meter pole was damaged during the storm, please contact a licensed electrician for repairs. Once repairs are complete, a county inspection and approval is required before Great Lakes Energy can restore your service.

To help move things along:

  • After repairs are made, please contact your county administration to schedule an inspection as soon as possible.
  • Once the inspection is approved and your local electrical building official has notified us that we are approved to proceed, we will schedule your reconnection.

Good news: This inspection step can happen even before power is restored in your neighborhood, so there’s no need to wait.

If you need assistance with storm damage repair costs, please call 2-1-1 or visit www.mi211.org

Thank you for your patience and partnership as we work together to get everyone safely powered up again.
